Doctor Who Head Writer Steven Moffat says he is “Probably Done” with the Weeping Angels

Steven Moffat has scripted three episodes of Doctor Who that feature the Weeping Angels, the stone statues that can only move once no one is looking at them. And now, Moffat says he’s probably done all he can with them.

While talking with OfficiallyNerdcubed [above], Moffat explained:

I’m probably done to be honest on what you can do with the Weeping Angels. But other writers have to have a go…

There’s only so many times you can think “Right, it’s a chase scene and statues”. How many times can the lights flicker? What happens if a moth sees them? Is the alien invasion cancelled at the point?

However, Moffat did note that he did recieve a great pitch for a Weeping Angels plot from a “very good Doctor Who writer,” which Moffat was all excited about. Unfortunately theidea fell through: “We had a long phone call about it and I went away thinking, ‘That is going to be brilliant!’ And about two days later he admitted he wasn’t going to have time to do it. Hopefully we’ll get to it in the next year.”
